Involvement

Introduction

Throughout my life, I have actively participated in a variety of clubs, organizations, and associations. From community service and volunteer work to engaging in club activities, I have been a dedicated member of my local community. Currently, I am involved in my school’s Model UN club, Yearbook club, Math Honor Society, National Honor Society, and more, as detailed below. While I would love to highlight all these incredible programs, I’ll provide a brief overview here. Thanks for reading and enjoy!

MWHS Essential Prep

Currently, I serve as the Vice Director of my school’s student-led SAT tutoring program, Essential Prep. After a rigorous application process with the former officers, I was honored to be appointed to this position. At Essential Prep, our mission is to help our fellow students achieve the highest possible scores on the SAT exam.

As a completely student-led organization, we operate without an advisor, giving students full executive power. Alongside my fellow officers, I strive to enhance and refine our program to better serve our peers, helping them achieve their desired scores in the way that suits them best.

In addition to my role as Vice Director, I also work as a tutor, teaching lessons, offering tips, and answering questions about the SAT, its format, and specific topics in the math section. My responsibilities as Vice Director include improving our educational program, reaching out to various school figures to raise awareness of our services, and communicating with both guardians and students to ensure we provide the best possible tutoring experience.

Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica

The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, or Spanish Honor Society, is dedicated to recognizing student achievements in Spanish and Portuguese, while also promoting interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies and community service. At my school, our chapter aims to celebrate our peers’ accomplishments and serve our local community in meaningful ways.

I am honored to serve as the Vice President of our organization, where I have already contributed to numerous initiatives. Recently, I helped organize a visit to one of our district’s elementary schools. During this trip, members of the honor society taught interactive and engaging lessons about various Spanish-speaking countries and read books aloud to the children in Spanish.

Additionally, we are currently supporting Project Linus by donating materials and assisting in the creation of blankets for children who are severely ill. This project allows us to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.

Habitat for Humanity Re:Store

I am currently a volunteer at the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh. Over the past two years, I have dedicated more than 100 hours to community service, gaining invaluable life lessons along the way. At the Re:Store, we collect donations from the community and resell them at discounted prices. The profits from these sales go towards funding the Habitat for Humanity program, which has built over 100 houses for those in need, in our community.

Chodae Community Church

I currently serve as a Teacher’s Assistant and Media Team Manager for the Precious Jewels Ministry (PJM) at Chodae Community Church in New Jersey. PJM is our elementary-level ministry, dedicated to providing children with the opportunity to learn about God and His message through our teachings and activities.

As a Teacher’s Assistant, I help lead group discussions and activities, guiding the children through our lessons and encouraging engaging conversations. In my role as Media Team Manager, I oversee and assist with the presentations used by our Pastor during sermons, ensuring that visuals and lyrics are effectively displayed to enhance the worship experience.

Senator Skoufis' Youth Advisory Council

From 2022 to 2023, I had the privilege of serving as a member of Senator Skoufis’ Youth Advisory Council. Each week, our online meetings featured a new guest speaker who shared insights about their projects and commitments, inviting us to engage in open discussions. These sessions provided us with valuable knowledge about the law-making process.

As part of our experience, we were tasked with creating a proposal for any bill of our choosing. We offered revisions and insights with the hope of having our proposal passed by Senator Skoufis himself. Below, you will find a link to an article about the 2022 Youth Advisory Council, as well as the proposal my group and I developed regarding Assembly Bill A3803, which addresses the production, transportation, and distribution of plastic goods.
