Computer Science Projects

Introduction

Here’s an overview of my journey with Computer Science and coding. From the moment I discovered what Computer Science is and the endless possibilities it offers, I was captivated. Video games, in particular, sparked my imagination and inspired me to create my own. The field is vast and awe-inspiring, encompassing everything from Artificial Intelligence to the latest technological advancements. As we move towards a future driven by these innovations, I am eager to grasp and understand them to turn my dreams into reality. Here, I present a collection of some of my foundational projects that I’ve developed throughout my high school years.

ProJeKt deltA

ProJeKt deltA is a 2D roleplaying video game I started developing in the summer of 2022. My initial motivation was sky-high, and I spent countless hours learning the basics of coding and game development through online tutorials for GameMaker Studio 2. I aimed to handle every aspect of the game myself, from the artwork and soundtrack to the coding. The game drew heavy inspiration from Toby Fox’s renowned titles, Undertale and Deltarune, which are hugely popular in the same genre.

Every summer, my enthusiasm for the project reignites, but as of now, I’ve paused further development. The game was becoming too similar to Toby Fox’s work, and while inspiration is great, there comes a point where the similarities can be excessive. Nevertheless, I plan to start working on a new game with a similar theme, but with distinct character designs and a unique storyline.

Replit/Python

During my junior year of high school, I took the AP Computer Science Principles course and was instantly captivated by coding once again. Throughout the course, we learned the basics of Python, using platforms like Replit and Code HS to deepen our understanding. Inspired by our class assignments, I also embarked on personal projects, some of which are showcased in my profile linked below.

This foundational knowledge has been invaluable, especially now as I am enrolled in a robotics class that uses Python for configuring robots. I am eager to continue my studies and further my understanding of Computer Science and coding at university after graduation.

Codepen/HTML

I first delved into HTML coding during my Intro to Coding class in my sophomore year of high school. As the semester progressed, I gradually developed an understanding of the language and its inner workings. While I am not yet fluent in HTML, I have built a solid foundation in its basics and created several projects with the guidance of my teacher and resources from the internet. I invite you to explore some of these projects on my personal profile!

Upcoming App

Growing up in a large school, I often found quick and reliable communication within various grades, classes, and groups to be quite challenging. While social media and other communication apps offer some solutions, they often lack regulation and a purely educational focus.

When it comes to school news, information about activities or events is generally reliable from school resources. However, the multitude of outlets can make it difficult for this information to reach the intended recipients. A school-regulated platform for online intercommunication would be an invaluable resource for students, allowing them to contact peers about specific classes without fear of ridicule.

With the advancements in artificial intelligence, algorithms and AI assistance can filter news from all outlets regarding school events, activities, and announcements, consolidating it into a single, accessible spot. I plan to start developing such an app in the near future, once I have graduated from high school and built a solid foundation in app development.
